Our StaffJoyceJoyce is the Firm's civil litigation
and general business law paralegal. After attending Los Angeles City
College, she worked as a legal secretary and, in 1964, she joined the
Firm (then known as Gillin & Scott). Joyce managed the Firm's office
from 1976 to 1980 and has acted as a Firm paralegal with extensive experience
in complex business transactions and litigation. In 1999, Joyce celebrated
35 years of association with the Firm's partners. Joyce is the primary
paralegal to Joel M. Simon, having worked closely together with Joel
for the past 22 years. Joyce deals directly with clients, doing initial
drafting of many basic and complex agreements, letters, and all maner
of business and litigation forms and pleadings. She is self-reliant,
highly motivated and works efficiently and more inexpensively than attorneys
with far less experience, as a highly functioning unit with Joel M.
Simon, to produce first class representation for the Firm's clients.
Norma![]() Norma graduated from Mt. St. Mary's College
with an AS in Secretarial Science and studied paralegal courses in real
estate at Glendale College of Paralegal School. After begining her career
in 1968, she joined the firm in 1970 as a legal secretary and has been
Glenn Alperstein's primary paralegal ever since. Since 1977 she has
specialized in title transfers in and out of trusts, and all aspects
of the creation and implementing of FLP's and LLC's; Norma is experienced
in the post-mortem funding and allocation of assests between trusts
and individuals in carrying out deceased client's estate and gift plans.
Jody![]() Jody is the firm's most experienced estate,
gift and generation skipping planning paralegal including the ability
to draft documents necessary to carry out such planning. Jody has also
been in charge of word processing and computer administration for the
office since she joined the firm. Jody received her Associate Arts Degree
in Secraterial Administration as well as receiving a Certificate of
Specialization in Word Processing and Legal secraterial courses. Jody
has also attended paralegal studies at the University of West Los Angeles.
Jody will celebrate her 25th anniversary with the firm in June 2001.
PaulaPaula has worked in the legal profession since 1980. She has extensive experience in corporate and civil litigation and now specializes exclusively in probate and post mortum trust administration in a paralegal capacity. Paula is experienced in the preparation of Federal and State Estate tax returns, and Federal Gift and Geration Skipping transfer returns. Paula's experience with the firm (and its predecessor in interest) is in excess of 9 years. She received a Certificate of Specialization in legal secretarial courses from Pierce College, and a Certiciate of Completion from the Legal Secretarial Training Course offered by the Beverly Hills Bar Association. KathyKathy has over fourteen years of office administration, computer administration, bookkeeping, time keeping, billing administration, accounts receivable records maintenance and collection and secretarial experience with Alperstein, Simon, Farkas, Gillin & Scott, LLP (and its predecessor in interest). Kathy received two years of education and training at Valley College in the San Fernado Valley. SylviaSylvia performs administrative, banking and bookkeeping services for the firm.
